Is snow blower the same as snow thrower?

I get confused every time I search for snow blowers and snow throwers on the net. Some sites refer them as one and the same thing. But, there are also other sites that consider them as different units. Thus, I surf through google and found a site, en.wikipedia.org. It says the 2 words mean the same thing.

I always come across these models of snow blowers, single-stage and two-stage. I’m quite curious to know the difference between the 2.  So, I researched through the net and found an interesting site, qualitysnowblower.com. The difference between the 2 is clearly identified.

• mysimon.com - A comparison of snow throwers according to speed and distance of snow clearing. Too long but informative.
• viewpoints.com - A review on snow throwers including pros and cons. I like the site color.
• sharedreviews.com -  All about snow thrower like size, brand name and descriptions.
• compacttractorreview.com - Overall review on Snow throwers including specifications, weakness and strengths. Helpful but not organized.
